When more than one URL is registered for a DOI, the DOI becomes a multiple resolution DOI. The primary URL is registered through a primary metadata deposit, but secondary URLs are typically submitted as a resource deposit by a secondary depositor. The secondary URL deposit consists of the DOI being updated, the secondary URL (or URLs), and a label. No item-level metadata is required:
The label provided with the secondary URL associates the proper <resource> to the corresponding link item in the interim page template. The label(s) provided in the secondary deposit must match a label established in the interim page template. The label value is case-sensitive, the label must be a minimum of 6 characters (no spaces).

Uploading secondary URLs
A secondary URL resource deposit must be uploaded with type 'doDOICitUpload' for HTTP POST (or 'DOI Resources' when using the system interface). The secondary depositor must have permission to add URLs to the primary depositor's DOIs.
Updating secondary URLs
A secondary depositor may update their URL by simply resending the XML file to Crossref with the modified value. The item label value and the depositor login must be consistent with the previous update.
